Level Up!

Oh yeah now I'm level 23 and of course happy birthday! Looking back at my achievements for the past one year well... they ain't so bad. But honestly I'm feeling more and more embarrassed celebrating birthdays with a crowd and slowly preferring some small time dinner with closed ones (getting old, much?).

Thanks to all comrades, colleagues, bros, dudes and especially the ladies for all the birthday wishes. Let's see what Level 23 has in store...

Chicken Shortage In Sarawak

There's been a serious chicken shortage in Sarawak for a few days now with places like KL Farming or CCK not having any chicken meat for sale at all. I thought this was just Sibu exclusive case, but apparently it's all over the State. So you can say chickens are going extinct in Sarawak.

What started as an already high RM9.00, chicken meat are now sold at RM13.50/kg thanks to the shortage. What the heck? We're exporting chickens from West Malaysia and the crisis is expected to last until next month.

Oh well, seafood it is then. Or alternatively you can go to KFC and buy some uncooked chickens from them. Or uh... remember the sugar and cooking oil shortage crises? Maybe some are unethically hoarding the chickens and you can get them from under the table or the back door...

Dog Pissed On My Car, Sertu Required

A dog pissed on my car's wheel right in front of me when I was having breakfast. I didn't go all Spartan on him (or was it a she?) since well, it's an animal and it also pissed on the wheel of the Ninja King parked beside me.

As most of you know Muslims and dogs (or swine) don't go along together. There are 3 levels of uncleanliness that hinders someone from performing religious obligations.

Level 1 Najis Mukhaffafah (Light): Piss from breastfeeding kids under 2 years old

Level 2 Najis Mutawassitah (Mid): Anything coming out from animals or your anus, private parts

Level 3 Najis Mughallazah (Heavy): Anything from dogs or pigs

As required I needed to purify my car's wheel on the basis of hygiene. You never now what's in that stray dog's urine. This purifying or cleansing process for level 3 uncleanliness is called sertu.

Step 1: Grab a fistful of earth.
Step 2: Put the earth in a bucket. Add water.
Step 3: Pour the water mixed with earth onto the unclean areas.
Step 4: Pour clean water onto affected areas 6 times.
Step 5: You/your stuff have been purified and good to go.

Warning: Don't dip unclean things into a stagnant water/bucket. Water must be poured or splashed on.

iPhone Accessory Not Optimized Fix

This morning I woke up seeing my iPhone turning on and off, as if I got some messages coming in every minute. And this notification appeared instead:

This Accessory is Not Optimized for this iPhone

You may experience noise caused by cellular interference and a decreased in cellular signal strength.

I was like WTH? I didn't add any new accessory or app to the iPhone recently. So here's a quick fix on how to clean and clear the problem.

Step 1: Undock the iPhone if it's still docked.
Step 2: Look at the iPhone's charger outlet (at the bottom of the only physical button)
Step 3: Fork out the lint, dust, dirt etc inside the outlet with a toothpick.
Step 4: Use cotton or twisted tissue to clean the remaining dust.
Step 5: Gently blow the iPhone's outlet.

Step 6: (Optional) Bang the iPhone on the table to unstuck whatever is lodged in the outlet.

There. That should stop the message from popping out. If problem persists contact your retailer.

Command & Conquer Generals DirectX 8.1 Error

Let's say you were able to play Command & Conquer Generals or Zero Hour before and now this error pops up:

DirectX Error: Please make sure you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements. I bet most of you now have DirectX 11.

Here's an easy and quick fix.
For C&C Generals:  Go to My Documents > Command & Conquer Generals Data
For C&C Zero Hour: Go to My Documents > Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data

Then delete the Options.ini

The highlighted gear thingy is the Options.ini (may be other icon on other OS). Its Type is Configuration settings. Delete it. Destroy it without further thought.

Then run the game again. Enjoy!

iPhone App Review: Blogger

Because I can't (or don't know how to?) arrange the images or post links. Apart from that it's nifty. There are rooms for improvements.

I'm writing this post and the previous one on the app Blogger. Very nifty for those always on the move. Finally less excuse for me to not blog regularly. Ahh nuts. Now I need to figure out how to post app links from the iPhone app store.

ISA Abolished

When the PM announced that he had an amanat or presidential address, I didn't expect this to be one of the issue. The Internal Security Act (ISA) was really useful when clamping down extreme communism but otherwise too much when used on media reporters, civilians or political opponents. And here's the catch, there will be a new revised system to replace ISA.

Man seriously when I said the month of fasting was going to zip past fast, it did. Wasn't really ready for Syawal and now I know what they meant by feeling sad when Ramadan leaves. Oh well it's now Eidulfitri and I would like to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya, maaf zahir and batin!
