Of Sarawak Flag, Lost Patriots & Kampua

The other day I was heading to uni when I was hailed by the security guard at the security checkpoint.
Guard: *Waves his hands to hail me to stop*
Me:
Owh nuts, did I run over someone yesterday?

Me: What's the matter boss?
Guard:
Of all the cars so far only yours bear the flag

Guard: Don't know la kids today, they don't have the mentality of appreciating what others have done for them *does a screw loose gesture* but look at this it's beautiful
Me: Yea, hard to find real patriots nowadays. Okay, boss gotta go *gives a 1Malaysia salute*

Yes, the patriots are almost non-existent today. Most just want to gtfo of this corrupted country upon graduating. Some cluelessly wave the flag while rempit-ing around town. How degraded and lost the meaning of freedom have become. It's like celebrating Christmas getting excited about Santa instead of Jesus. An appreciation event that turns into an unappreciative celebration. And I know how it feels to be unappreciated, as well as its consequences. I love this state, it is always the first home to me. It's home to kampua.

Kampua Prospect 2009

Here are the prospects for the dried noodle for the year 2009:

Looking for a quick and cheap kampua? Mas Corner 2000 near Town Square Phase 2 retains one of the most economical prices for all types of kampua. Normal kampua priced at RM2.20 while special only at RM3.50 (includes 3 meat balls).

For those who is into heavy seafood, head over to Sunny Cafe near the old bus terminal. However bear the slow service (despite the 4-7 people working, poor management) because the end result compensates all the 20-30 minutes wait. Priced at Rm4.00 (yeah bloody hell WTFBBQ indeed. They don't seem to follow the economic trend).

For those who are into kampua late at night, try Bandong. The wee little shop of which I never tend to look at the signboard to find out what's its name is, can be found towards the Mastura supermarket selling only normal kampua served with chickens at RM1.70. Opens around 7pm onwards (roughly till 11pm when Sibu people goes to sleep).

Well that's all the prospects for now, until a sudden change in kampua trend takes place. Above is a Sunny Cafe kampua, with a lil' bit extra special. Creative.

RM2.00 Kampua

Being raised in Kampua Town, I like one of those kampua noodles myself. I can never get enough of that dry noodle and I usually had one every now and then a few years back. Now, being away from home I rarely had one of those noodles for a long time and so I look forward to eat one every time I return to Kampua Town. But recently, I was not-so-surprise seeing they're now selling RM2 kampua. WTF. Luckily some still remain at the standard RM1.70, like the ones in Bandong or Mas Corner. I was told there's even RM1.50, but I can't verify that info. So anyways, I'm geting hungry just by typing this, so...
