Apparently Sibu in Chinese is pronounced as "Shi Wu", lit. Witch. I'm not sure if it's the Left 4 Dead's witch variant, but it somehow caused a fuss lately.Sibu's United Chinese Association (UCA) announced the intention to change the 'negative' name to something more 'positive' in nature to allow growth in Sibu.
Why now? After roughly decades the name has been fondly attached to this Leptospirosis-infected swamplands of gangsters and honest townspeople alike. And out of the sudden the name has to be changed now?
No, no, no dear sir. Shi wu is not as bad as the place called Lanchau (lit. penis) north of Sarawak's capital city Kuching. Now that needs some changing for the benefits of the Lanchau people. It's only mafan for everyone to change something that is unnecessary.
Why don't you guys focus on bigger things like sponsoring more mother-trucking parking spaces in the canned-sardine areas in town?
