Blogger Forum

There's gonna be a Blogger Forum next week, organized by my buddy Suhas for his Film & Television group. He's inviting all bloggers, Mirian or otherwise (that's me) to attend the forum for a friendly get together. Perhaps a nice chit-chat over a cuppa tea ay? You can contact him for more info:

3666 Bike Hand Over

Political watchdogs fear the hand-over of the F-Stong bike may lead to an increase in terror activities in the Senadin area

I've had the bike since, um January '08? Exclusively used for my summer course when there was no bus to go to campus. Then the bus was operational a few days into summer. After that it was on display in the living room until this now. Then the bike got a prospective buyer who frequented the house lately and had been eyeing the bike ever since. So I sold it off to the boy, Jeng, for RM1,500,000 inclusive of the padlocks. The official hand-over ceremony was attended by some of the 3666 inhabitants on 16th May with no refreshments or major publicity.

Medical Check Up

I was settling some housing matters, and since I was heading to town I sent Hallod for his medical check-up on the way. Asking the nearby Mirians (assumed Mirians) was not-so-very helpful, so we relied on our non-Mirian intuition to find the place and settled everything by 5pm.
Soon I'm gonna have a built-in Google Earth in my car to navigate through new grounds, instead of going around in circles and asking locals who may not even know their own backyard.

We were told to look for colorful red, white and blue territory

Yup, we're in the right area alright. A lot of red, white and blue being displayed on the blocks

If we know what to talk here, maybe we can get free MC... if you know what I mean

This might be useful for other students who needs a medical check up before transferring to Perth or other foreign lands. Here's the price list before you get those spectacles;
Medical checkup RM160 (but Hallod paid RM170, must be for extra services)
ECG RM30
Ultrasound scan RM40
X-ray RM35
Pap smear RM42

Windows XP Tricks: Rename Your Recycle Bin

Recycle Bin or Tong Sampah? You name it...

You realize that you can't rename your Recycle Bin right? Well here is a trick to rename it to whatever you want in 5 easy steps:

STEP 1:
Click Start and go to Run (It's below Search). Type in regedit.

STEP 2:
The Registry Editor menu will pop up, and it may be overwhelming for newbies. Fear not, you will only need to click on a few folders. All the registry are sorted out alphabetically and should be easy to find:
First, open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
Next scroll down until you see CLSID folder.
Open it, and then find {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} folder.
Open it and then find and open ShellFolder folder. You should see a menu as seen below.

STEP 3:
Now double click on Attributes and change the value from 40 01 00 20 to 50 01 00 20.

STEP 4:
Next double click on CallForAttributes and change the value to 0x00000000.

STEP 5:
Exit the Registry Editor and try right-clicking the Recycle Bin. You can now rename it freely. Enjoy.

Bintang Again for the Weekends

After the bowling gig, I had another event at Bintang Plaza for the weekends. Me and my fellow JCLA crew were helping SCCS to run an exhibition at the new wing, as well as to run a survey to check out Miri's children cancer's awareness from 11am to 4pm. All was well, and I guessed the crew learned to be more thick-faced when conducting the survey. As for me, more codings for the SPSS after compiling the questionnaires.

Funny enough, around 3pm++ the old wing of Bintang Plaza faced a blackout. After we packed up I surveyed the old wing to check out the dimly lit plaza. Only the shop lots were left unpowered, and luckily exterior lights were running. Must have been some kind of power trip or power trip test due to the ongoing constructions of the new wing.

Some shops opted to close down, but some non-power consuming shops like Guardian stayed running. Too bad I can't say the same about McTreats... And right on time when I was craving for Chocolate Sundae... nuts.

I'd buy the popcorn, but it was too dark for me to see what I'm buying.

Happy Mothers' Day! 09

I'm a dude so naturally I feel awkward writing a thank you message due to 1) A dude's nature to write straight to the point and 2) Our conservative Asian culture of "Haiya no need la put up in post, paiseh!". But I've assimilated some avant-garde into my default conservative culture so here it goes;

I would like to wish a very Happy Mothers' Day to all mothers worldwide and especially, my mom who's been there teaching and disciplining me into what I am today for my 21 years of life here on Earth. Thanks mom and I love you :)

Bowling for Soup

Went out with some buddies for the bowling competition organized by Uni Life at Bintang Plaza today, becoming the one and only all-student noobish team pitting against all-staffs teams. The result after I saw for myself a few 'masuk parit' incidents?; the one and only all-students team walked away with the biggest hamper. What a way to spend a Saturday...

K4L UPgrade

Kampua 4 Life will undergo some minor upgrades to change the boring blog UI and feel thanks to the public's positive feedback on the blog's 1280x800 change. Although the poll was only about the resolution, I decided to change the whole layout just for kicks. The upgrading process may take a few days due to bandwidth conservation, but posts may continue to be put up from time to time. If any of the upgrades are offensive, please drop a comment and I will make it more intimidating.

If it is about the new 1280x800 resolution e.g. can't see the whole page, return to desktop, right-click on empty space, under menu click Properties, then under Display Settings go to Settings and increase your screen resolution. Hopefully with the increased width you guys can read better compared to the old narrow 660 pixels box. Cheerios~

The Disproportionately-sized Cake on the Face during the Rainy May

Have we all come to this?
Lackadaisical face-to-face with basic texts

And relying on Facebook’s little red notice

Occasional silent nudge would be next

No, no one is angry no one is at fault
Newton said there is reaction for every action
Both would be equal by default
But the theory is not applicable in this situation

Dissatisfaction is there but not shown
The face is expressionless to begin with
But the dissatisfaction has grown
To the point it manifested and live

Maybe I have been too vague
That’s my nature and that was my side’s mistake
But nowadays a one-sided job is a plague
I’m getting tired of doing it for fuck’s sake

But a middle-aged Buddhist monk once told me
Listen and do what is mentioned in Paul van Dyk’s Let Go
And so I did, waited, held back and see
Only to find it was a mistake after all

I don’t sing Fall Out Boy’s I Don’t Care
Singing “I don’t care what you think as long as it about me
But asking for a free time to spare
Was canceled out by the lackadaisical endeavor that I see

Time was of the essence
Freedom was meant for the better good
Hacker Black Lotus once graced the Red Army with her presence
Now it’s only me and the food

I thought I was turning into an anti-social mime
Nothing more but the usual stress of life
It turned out it was basically lack of quality time
And pathetically I spend more with my laptop wife

Green is the color of envy
And envy I am with those who go through the smallest things together
Fortunately I’m not green nor eat much veggie
Hopefully apathy will make me forget about it forever

No, I have not found the cure to growing older
Frustration smiles upon me and debuffs my youth
Columbus can’t explore the whole world any longer
Hopefully everything back home is smooth

Even after all the Monsters are gone
This weary traveler will continue to backpack
In search of the meaning that is months gone
Before he decides to turn back

- Ham, the inquisitive traveler
