Anti-Semitism: When There is Peace, It Will Be The End

The news of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict may be a news most Malaysian would not bother to delve in because they got better things to worry about back home. Plus it's not our war and big chance most Malaysians can't even tell where Palestine, Iraq or Arab Emirates are. Well I'm partly one of them because there's nothing I can do to significantly change what's happening there, so why bother? And yes I know where they are.

We have heard from the news countless times on how parties such as the UN and US have tried to encourage a peace talk between the two warring nations, which often resulted in more bloody conflict instead of peace. However here comes the question; CAN THERE BE PEACE?

1.0 HISTORY
I'll explain briefly on what's happening in the Palestine. After defeating the Ottoman Empire in WWI the British ruled Palestine and this was formalized by the Mandate of Palestine. During the WWII European Jews fleeing the Holocaust encroached onto Palestinian grounds which led to the British-Zionist Conflict. After the end of WWII the British ditched their Mandate of Palestine under the League of Nations because they cannot appease both the Arabs and Jews as to how the land will be administered.
Then when the new United Nations was created, the plan to divide the land to two, one Arab state and one Jewish state, was proposed in 1947. The Jews were okay with the plan but the Arabs weren't because Palestinian Arabs sees the new immigrants as intruders that set up camp in the Arabs' lawn and claimed it as their own. And after the new Jewish state was made official in 1948, with the name Israel, all Hell broke loose.

Intifada: From انتفاضة which means 'uprising' or 'resistance' where Palestinians can be seen throwing rocks, molotovs and other explosives at encroaching Israeli army and civilians.

Many many many battles have been fought, 3 intifada have been declared so far and small skirmishes still occur all around Palestine. The borderlines keep on changing with each conflict and not everyone is happy about it.

2.0 THE PLAYERS IN THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT
Here are the factions before we go further. It may be confusing for newcomers to grasp;

2.1 Israel
A Jewish nation state formed after Palestine was divided between the Arabs and Jews. The name is taken from Jacob's name of Israel after he defeated a YHWH's angel. There are Zionists who believed heavily that they must re-establish a Jewish state in their historical homeland and thus lead to the building of Jewish settlement into Palestinian Arab territory. Take note that there are Israeli Arabs residing in the Jewish state.

2.2 Palestinians
According to the Palestine National Council in 1948 they are "Arab nationals who, until 1947, normally resided in Palestine regardless of whether they were evicted from it or stayed there". Take note they are Sunni Muslim Arabs and Christian Arabs who are Palestinian.

2.3 Fatah
A Palestinian Sunni nationalist movement (founded 1957) with a long term goal to eradicate the Jewish state. However they try to achieve this via peace talks. The late Yasser Arafat is one of the party's iconic figure (died in 2004). The Fatah party were on constant conflict with the Hamas party.

2.4 Hamas
A Palestinian Islamist Sunni movement (founded 1987) with a long term goal to eradicate the Jewish state. However they try to achieve this with more direct armed conflict. Hamas won the election in 2006, disposing Fatah from Palestinian political arena.

2.5 Hezbollah
A Lebanese Islamist Shiite movement with the primary goal to eradicate the Jewish state. Apart from building schools, hospitals etc. for Shiite Muslims in Lebanon, Hezbollah is also famous for participating in any resistance during Israeli incursions.

2.6 Iran & Neighbors
Specifically Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is Hell-bent on nuking Israel from the face of the Earth (although at the same time saying the uranium-enrichment is for power plants). They help fund the Hezbollah's operations and the Iranians are Shiites. The same goes to Palestinian's Shiite neighbors such as Lebanon.

3.0 WHY THEY FIGHT?
Easy. The Jewish state wants to reclaim and re-establish their historical homeland. The Palestinians don't want Israel to build over their homelands. From 1948 until today 2010 no solution has be achieved to settle this dispute. I think whoever can broker peace between Israel/Palestine is a genius and will be handsomely paid.

3.1 WHY IS IT HARD TO BROKER PEACE?
The involvement of Shiite and Sunni interests in the region makes thing even more complicated. Sunni and Shiite/Shi'a are two of the branches in Islam.

The Sunnis are the largest branch and they basically follow the sunnah (words) and actions of the Prophet PBUH. Sunnis are those who agreed with the Prophet's companion's decision that the most capable of the companions should be the successor after the Prophet's death; Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.

Shiites are the second largest and derived from the word shi'a (faction) as they relate themselves to Ali ibn Abi Talib's faction who was supposed to receive the leadership of the Islamic community as he is a relative, not Abu Bakr. Unlike the Christians' Catholic-Protestant separated by the Sola Scriptura issue, the Sunni-Shiite share the same fundamental beliefs but separated by the 7th century leadership prerequisite dispute.

Today, like everywhere in the world and even in Malaysia, religion have been politicized. There are possibilities that Ahmadinejad, a Shiite, determination to drop a nuke on Israel which is literally within Palestinian Sunnis' grounds are more towards expanding his political influence in the region. And that is just Iran, there are Syria and Lebanon around Palestine who may have similar interest.

Apart from that some of you may ask why the other Arab nations are not helping Palestine. Well, again there are political and personal interests involved in the issue. Economic is one thing as war is a costly. Politically some Arab countries in the region have good ties to the West and are advised against participating in the conflict. And overall the whole thing is a mess as history shown that either Palestine or Israel will spark the next conflict again, and again, and again.

In addition, many security and human rights have been violated by both Palestine and Israel. We have the suicide bombers from Hamas that blows up Israeli cafes. And then we have Israeli using phosphorous and cluster bombs, illegal under 1949 Geneva Convention, used on Palestinian civilians. Each attack only aggravate more attacks and the whole vicious cycle starts again. I don't think people will easily forgive the person who burnt his daughter to death with phosphorous artillery shells.

4.0 WHAT DO THE BOOKS SAY?
Take note the Books here refer to the Books from the Heavens; Torah, Bible and Quran. It was mentioned by the prophets that Israel will undergo harsh and turbulent times during the last of days. YHWH allows Israel's enemies to attack the nation to punish and discipline her. But when the assault becomes too overwhelming YHWH will intervene and save Jacob/Israel (Jeremiah 30:7 and Daniel 12:1).

This punishment and disciplining concept is not far off in the Quran. We can see how YHWH chose Israel over the other nations (did you expect this?) and later condemned the Jews and finally punished them in these three verses:

O Children of Israel! call to mind
The special favor which I bestowed
Upon you, and fulfill your Covenant
With Me as I fulfill My Covenant
With you, and fear none but Me
(Quran 2:40)

YHWH has cursed them for their (Jews) disbelief, so they believe not
(Summary of Quran 4:46)

For the wrongdoing Jews and disbelievers, YHWH has prepared a painful doom
(Summary of Quran 4:160-1)

So basically Israel is SUPPOSED to be attacked for their wrongdoings as a form of punishment. That means peace is out of the question as it will go against YHWH's plans of making them suffer (?).

5.0 DOOM TO THE ENEMIES OF CHILDREN OF ISRAEL
If you do have some basic history you'll know the children of Israel have a lot of enemies. The Egyptian Pharaoh was onto them but saved by Moses. Adolf Hitler was determined to exterminate all the of them in WWII's Holocaust. Even our ex-Prime Minister Mahathir who fed us things like "the Jews conspiracy" and "Jews rule the world" showed his distaste for them.

Now as mentioned by a fellow Muslim Ruslan Tokhchukov, tragedies befell upon enemies of the Jewish people. The enemies of the Jewish people includes the Egyptian Pharaoh, the Assyrian Empire, the Babylonians, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Spanish Inquisitors, the Russian Tsars, and finally Nazi Reich. All of them are undeniably powerful empires. But all of them did not have a happy ending. And it may be related to what Jeremiah and Daniel mentioned. Can you relate it to what's happening to Malaysia as well?

However with the downfall of each enemies it seem the peace for the Jewish people are only temporary as new ones will emerge. After the Holocaust in the 40s the Arab-Israeli conflict now takes place from the 50s until this very moment. Apparently their punishment will not end until the end of days as prophesied; when a multinational army converge at the Holy Land for the epic battle called Armageddon that will usher the end. The scary thing is; that is what exactly is happening now where even the UN is condemning Israeli's actions and armed intervention may occur.

6.0 CONCLUSION
There cannot be peace in the Israel-Palestine Conflict. It was as if everything is staged for the End of Days, whether you believe in the Books or not. It is a good thing to have peace between the people but alas it will most likely remain as nothing more than a vague hope. Peace for the Children of Israel is far from grasp as if it was intended to be. Should there be peace, that would mean the End.
