What's on My Desktop Today

A lot of softwares have come and go on my desktop, all in the name of seeking perfection (mostly finding something free, fast, useful and sexy looking). And few managed to stay on my desktop longer than 2 weeks. So now I'm showcasing the softwares that is currently active on my desktop:

On your left hand side, you can see hott notes. It's a free program that works well reminding a forgetful and schedule-packed student about the to-do things. It's useful in a way that it reminds you of the reality of life and you can't escape from it, even in your desktop after you close that sress-relieving Left 4 Dead window. It comes in 3 types:

Note - type in stuff, your girlfiend's birthday, or the cheat codes for Minesweeper
Checklist - my favourite, things-to-do in form of checklist. Just check-off things you have already planned to do and you'll get the satisfaction of progress in life
Scribble Note - scribble stuff, draw a horrible stick cat and post it on your desktop like what some kids do to their drawings that are now stuck on the fridge.

Download hott notes here for free.

Now at the center of the desktop where the Celestial Being logo is you can find texts, which is my Xion player with Simple Text skin applied. I used to have a singing Linux penguin but watching him trembling to all the trance music for 3 months straight on your desktop can be tiring. Xion is a very simple player, and you can create your own skin using Photoshop. So that means the people can create their own personal player skins, and so they have as proven at Xion's website wher there is tonnes of skins to download from. Owh and this explains why on MSN I have that extra Xion: text in front of the music title I'm listening to. You can download Xion here. Owh and it's free.

Lastly we move on to you right hand side, where Thoosje sidebar can be seen. Now I'm using XP, and Thoosje gives sidebars that can match the ones offer in Vista. Comes with its own gadgets like calculator, system up-time, RAM usage (vital for overclockers and multitaskers like me), and it's very own music player. The only concern though is the sidebar may eat up a lot of memory usage during startup, which causes a delay in the Windows start up for around 3 minutes. But disabling it in start up and bring it up after that should fix the problem. Owh the only major problem is that I can't find my ZIP code which may lead to annoying pop-ups asking for it if you have Weather gadget up. Download Thoosje Sidebar here. Also free.

have u run a check disk of late? if yes, maybe its time to reformat... HDD can get clogged beyond repair after a while, a tactic for laptop co. to 'ask' you to buy new ones after 2-3 years

oo that's how the lagging got better haha i install 'Advanced system care" and run a disk check as well as a defrag, and wth, also got a lot of spyware, adware!! Make me wanna throw out that Ad-aware edi since i run it and it catch a few only~ many go undetected!!

The lagging might also due to small ram maybe?? 1gb, consider small edi compare to what everyone got for laptop that purchase a year after me T_T

well for effective software you can can these two to help smoothen ur laptop's process;

ccleaner: http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

and defraggler: http://filehippo.com/download_defraggler/

and i stopped using Ad-aware for 1 year plus already, relying on Avast! and Tune Up 2009 to keep everything in shape. And if u can, time to upgrade into 4Gb to maximize the laptop's capability, unleash its hidden power :D

oo u switch to Avast!, me too lazy to switch it so still on Mcfree. Avast talked! My mum and i was watching tv downstairs at night when we suddenly hear a guy voice from upstair haha~ We both look at each other and ask did u hear pc talk? So one day when i was in front of the pc and i finally hear what it said ---> "The virus database has been updated"

As for tune up i throw that out edi haha no need more than 1 registry cleaner + remove all stupid history log thing programme, i used ccleaner before, it's okay, clear out a lot of space for my desktop at home hahaha

well one thing i like about avast! is dat it actually WORKS and secondly and mainly becoz its customizable, like changing skins and even the "Virus database ahve been updated" to any custom sounds. My virus warning is one of those darurat sirens lol...

different software got their own functions, and despite them saying they can do this n dat they are more specialize in one specific thing. So having more than 1 software about registry is normal haha owh u might want to check out Revo sometimes http://www.revouninstaller.com/
